People don't write apps for NeWS or NeXTStep because there's not
enough return for the effort; those systems aren't available on
enough workstations.  Writing to an X-based window interface gives
developers a broader market.

My perception is that Motif is winning the "war" and that OpenLook
will persist as a third proprietary offering from Sun (note Bill
Joy's comment that OpenLook is a "de facto standard" because of
Sun'smarket share).  Does this make any sense?
