Getting Callback via modem (short version!)

(I'm sorry for the earlier version of this question - while picking up a copy
of what I had originally mailed to the sco-list, I mistakingly
'wrote-file' rather than 'wrote-region', so I put up the whole bloody
thing. Again, sorry!)

I have setup my modem line for dial in and dial out capabilities. I would
like to dial into the system from home, and using the 'at' command, tell
the system to call me back. I wrote a script using the following command:

	nohup cu -9600 -lttyA8 <my phone number>

The dialing works, but instead of a login, i get some garbled characters
(which I assume are the carrier detect signals that are asking for a
login). But, I need the system to _issue_ a login. The ref book talks
about dial in/dial out lines says "when a dial out program is using the
line, the login is disabled". Is there a way to re-enable it??? (or an
alternative approach you know of??)

thanks,
