TCP/IP Xenix

We have Xenix 2.3.2 and TCP/IP 1.0.1h. I have noticed the following
problem whenever I transfer large files using ftp from a Sun to the
Xenix machine ( a compaq 386). The transmission, if successful, is
very slow (~400 bytes/sec). Transfers from the same Sun system using
tftp proceed at the rate of 90 kbytes/sec. The problem does not
occur when transfering in the other direction or transfering
from a dos system running PC/TCP from FTP software.

The significant aspects of the various transmissions are:

1. Each transmission is over an ethernet.

2. The ftp protocol uses TCP while tftp uses UDP

3. The TCP window, when transfering from the Sun, is larger than
the window from dos. The Dos system uses a window of 1024 bytes while
the Sun will attempt to use at least a 6144 byte window.

Has anyone else observed this problem.
