Start off by using the chroot feature of login (System V).  Then, the
clowns that login can only stomp on each others files, and not your
root and personal user areas, should there be security holes you
haven't plugged.

Setting up the chroot area is a pain in the butt, but worth it given
the cracker spirit so prevalent today.
