Problems installing Xsight

I just installed Xsight on a Compaq 386/20 running 2.3.3
and made the mistake of installing the 2-disk Maintenance release
which seems to only have applied to 2.3.[012].  Mistake
because suddently the TCP network code stopped working.
The network programs (eg, telnet) simply croak and return
with no diagnostics of any kind.  It seems start at boot time
just fine, or rather without complaints, and then just doesn't work.

Any know how to back out this Maintenance release without
reinstalling from first principles?  I have a BUNCH of stuff
installed and it takes a day to get it all working again.
