Curses hack needed

I am looking for a hack I can make to Curses under 4.2BSD that
will make it think that characters are being echoed to the terminal
when really they're not.  I am running an application program
over a half-duplex network which does its own echoing, so although
UNIX is printing no characters to the screen on user input, they're
there nonetheless.

I need such a hack so that I can force Curses to erase a line on
a window in which input has been previously typed, otherwise, unless
there's an intervening clear screen, user input is typed over previous
characters.  Any help you can give will be vastly appreciated,
