vsort from AT&T Toolchest (performance query)

I am rather interested in the AT&T toolchest offering called
"vsort", a sort for large and binary files.   The description does not
mention its performance, however.

Has anyone installed this ?  Can you tell me how it performs compared
to the standard BSD "sort" utility  on very large files ?
