	Try M. J. Bach's book "The Design of the UNIX Operating
System" from Prentice-Hall for $31.95. The book describes a lot of the
UNIX kernel architecure like how and where it does things. It mainly
describes System V unfortunately but does touch a little on sockets
and select.
