csh question

Sorry if the question is too simple... I am not too familiar with the internal
details of UNIX.

Suppose I am running a program in background, the output of which is being
redirected to a file. Now, while the program is running, if I move the
parent directory (say, just change the name), how is this information conveyed
to the process. If it is through one of the shell variables, which one is it
and how?
