PASCAL BUG

In an article last week I suggested that the fix to the pas-
cal bug by rabbit!ark was incorrect. (lets see how I can get
out of this gracefully) The person who had typed the  change
in  did  so incorrectly and it is amazing anything worked at
all. He has been too "gun shy" to go ahead and try it  again
because  of  all  the grief we all gave him about messing up
the C compiler. In any case the fix must be correct  because
the  errors  we got in our C programs could not be caused by
the changes made.
