Vnews hangs forever on exit

Vnews hangs forever when it exits if a particular newsgroup has
article numbers > 10,000.  The Chicago area weather system has
posted 10,346 articles but only 6 of them were present when I
isolated this problem.  As soon as the first article header was
displayed, I hit "q" to exit.  On every occasion, the screen
would clear but no prompt would return.  SIGINT does nothing,
but SIGQUIT will cause a core dump on a memory fault.  I finally
got it to work with a "vnews -n chi.weather" and I went all the
way through the six articles.  It exited correctly.
