Peculiar reason for posting

I'm not going to name the author because I don't mean this
personally. Many others have been guilty of similar actions but 
this was a particularly blatant example:

>I haven't tried it
>or even thought about it too much, but it seems like it should work.  
>Lets see,

Under these circumstances, I don't understand why the author felt
the item was worth posting.
