Trailblazer and UNIX-PC on-board-modem

I have vague recollections of a net.discussion of problems with 'Blazers
and the AT&T UNIX-PC built-in 1200 baud modem.  Something about the TB
getting fooled into thinking it was conversing at 2400 baud....  Maybe
thinking it had an MNP guy on the other end?  I don't really remember,
obviously.  Is there a cure for this?  My TB+ needs to call a UNIX-PC's
internal modem, and I'd like to avoid forcing the TB to 1200 baud on my
end.  (However, that may be the only solution....)
