3b1 disk upgrade

Has anyone sucessfully formatted and then LOADED UNIX on a drive that
has more than 1024 cyls on it with the new controller chip?  

If so PLEASE send mail, phone or post on what you did and how you did it!
Please include the actual steps for loading UNIX! (this seems silly, but
there is a reason!)
