0/1 Wait States for Expansion Memory

I've just upgraded my unix-pc expansion board from 512K to 2M by
repopulating the board with 256K-120ns DRAM's. I've heard that the
memory on the expansion board has 1 wait state, compared to 0 wait state
on the motherboard. I am not going to risk desoldering the motherboard
though. So, is it a way to change the wait-state on the RAM card?
