6300 clock problem

Out of more than 100 units on campus this is a first for me. One of
the AT&T 6300 has a clock/time set problem: It will not register odd
hours when given a time (set) command.  The ROM set is at level 1.43
and DOS is at version 3.1. By all rights,this has to be a hardware
problem, but is there an easy fix short of taking the mother board to
the hospital?
