Cramolin

I have used Cramolin. It is definitely good stuff, though some of
the mytic porperties ascribed to Cramolin by Hi-fi buffs are rather
hyperbolic.

I've seen teeny little bottles of Cramolin for sale in Hi-fi
botiques for outrageous prices. If ones orders directly from Caig
Laboratories, it is between $10 and $15 (US) for a couple ounce
bottle. That should be a nearly lifetime supply. Be sure to get
both types. There is a cleaner solution and a apreservative
solution. The cleaner is very good; it does a much better job of
removing crud than plain isopropyl alcohol. The preservative
solution does an excellent job of preventing the cleaned contacts
from re-oxidizing.

My best Cramolin experience was with EEG amplifiers that have a DC
gain of about 10,000. We used to have to unplug and replug the mil
type connectors on a bank of 12 amps every day, or we'd get
horrendous 60 Hz hum in our brain wave recordings. We cleaned and
preverved the connectors with Cramolin several years ago, and have
had no problems since.

There is another nifty contact treatment maade by another comapany
that the person who runs our phone system uses. The stuff comes in
something that looks like a felt-tip marker and costs $40 a hit.
The treatment consists of very, very tiny gold flecks that are
encapsulated in a polymer coat. The coating on the gold is
pressure sensitive so that the gold is exposed only on the mating
surfaces of contacts. As such, one needn't worry about the
possibility of bridging contacts, and the stuff can be safely used
on very low level signal connectors. Sorry, but I don't have the
name of the porduct handy.
