Yes this is correct. You must set the dip switches differently for the
one meg SIMMs but you can strip off the 256k beasties and sell them off.
Be careful with the grey market SIMM's on that board. I have tried some
and found them to cause problems. Select a speed of 100ns as well. You can
use these in a faster machine in the future.

Yes this controller will work and you are correct about disabling the
floppy. There is no way to disable the integral floppy controller on the 
motherboard so disabling it on the WD controller is correct. To disable it
jumper W4 and cut the trace that joins W13 (its etched into the board)
