init & telinit

Does anyone out there know if there is an "init 0" equivelent (spelling??)
for the 3B1?  I know on 3B2's that actually powers down the machine, on
Motorola MiniFrame's it puts the system into a "safe" state for shutdown.
I need this for my powerdown script when I lose power and the machine shuts
itself down cleanly on UPS power.  The "init s" command works nicely when
it's executed from a terminal or console, it doesn't work so nice from a
daemon though.
