ASD keyboard cables

I am planning network requirements for our new facilities.  I would like to
use the "SGI standard" method of networking - i.e. a RJ45 4-plex.  In the
SGI standard, one plug is used for phone, one for Appletalk, one for
Ethernet, and one spare.  I want to use the spare jack to run the keyboard
cable of a Power Series machine (an ASD unit) to a remote location.  I plan
to run RGB cables for the monitor, but if I can avoid running another cable
for the keyboard, it would be more efficient.  The pin outs for the cable
(from "man keyboard") shows that there are 12 pins used.  3 are Ground, 3
are +12Vdc, and 2 are reserved.  These look like duplications.  So here is
the question:

Can I use an 8 line twisted pair cable in place of the standard ASD
keyboard cable?

P.S. Any tips and ideas on installing the new network are heartily welcome.
