UUCP under SunOS 4.0 via TCP?

I would like to bring up uucp under SunOS 4.0. The uucp distributed with
this OS does not support the TCP device in L.sys. Attempts to compile bsd
uucp (the machine is covered under our Berkeley source license) fail
because of Unibus refs in acucntrl. A TCP only version can be compiled,
but Seg. Faults rather quickly (problems with null pointer derefrencing
and the like). Has anyone gotten the bsd uucp modified to work on a 68xxx
architecture - or specifically under SunOS 4.0 on a 3/60?
