If you have a type 4 keyboard (the kind with the four lights above the
numeric keypad), and you need to emulate a type 3 keyboard (e.g., to run
Mach or old releases of SunOS), there's a way! Next to one of the legs on
the underside of the keyboard, there's a plastic piece which can be pried
off. Underneath, there are eight dip switches. Flip #1 and reboot.
You'll now be running as a type 3.

Thanks to C.B. Lee (cblee at sun.com) and Guy Harris (guy at auspex) for this
information!
