double precision fortran, sun4's and the -g flag

I'm having real problems compiling fortran programs with the -g flag which
use real*8 or double precision on a sun4.  The same code compiles fine if
I use a sun3 or use a -O flag instead of a -g.

I'm hoping that this is an old bug that is REALLY EASY to fix.
