Hmm, in sunos4.0.3 the tar -C option "only applies to one following
directory name and one following file name" ... really!  True, sun
documented this going back to sunos3.2, but it wasn't until 4.0.3 that
they enforced it.  Any good reasons for this; ie, changing tar's behaviour
from 4bsd?  We found "-C directory file1 file2 ..." very useful.
