Help with 'talk' utility

Hi. I'm currently working on an xview (OpenWindows) adaptation of the
SunOS 'talk' utility. Problem is, there's no documentation on what to do
once you're connected to the talk daemon (in.talkd). I've tried just
reading from the port (nothing received) and sending the user's name that
I'm trying to connect to (still nothing). I'm kinda stumped, since that
daemon could be waiting for me to send just about anything.

If anyone has experience with talk or talkd, or can point me toward some
docs somewhere, I'd sure appreciate it.

[[Ed's Note: xtalk is available from the various archives (uunet at least)
and sounds a lot like what you are trying to do. If nothing else, the
source might be useful as a reference. -bdg]]
