Bug in TranScript/troff???

I am running TranScript version 2.1 on a Sun 3/260 OS4.0.1 with
Laserwriter II.

My problem is, when I process a troff document using eqn/ptroff and ms
macro, sometimes, after a few in-line equations in a paragraph, the font
won't revert back to roman, and stay in italics until the end of the
paragraph.

I have noticed that this happens especially if I have many words/phrases
printed in italics in the same paragraph, in addition to quite a few
in-line equation constructs.

I must add that the constructs in question are correct, and work fine when
processed with other (non-transcript, non-sun) troff installations
elsewhere.

Has anyone else noticed this problem? Is this a known bug with
TransScript, ptroff, pscat, etc.? Is there any fix (aside from putting in
\fR's into the document to forcefully revert back to roman wherever it
fails to do so itself)? I would greatly appreciate any pointers.
