My apologies if this is a frequently asked question, and if I posted to
the wrong group(s). I was unsure as to where to direct the question.

I am associated with a company in Colombia, South America which is
interested in purchasing Sun Unix systems for their operations. They are
looking at both Sun systems and Sun clones. My questions are as follows:

Sun systems:

Has anyone dealt with Sun in South America? How is their sales support,
and technical support, both hardware and software?

(N.B. I am very familiar with Sun in the US as I am SysAdmin for a site in
New Jersey, so you can describe the level of foreign support in comparison
to the US support.)

Solbourne Sun system clones:

1) Solbourne claims 100% binary comaptibility with SunOS. Is this in fact
   true?

2) Do Solbourne clones accept third party peripherals (tape drives, disks,
optical disks, etc) intended for Sun systems? If not, is there a
third-party market for Solbourne clone peripherals, or are you locked into
buying your additional hardware from Solbourne?

3) How is Solbourne Technical Support, both hardware and software? How
about outside the U.S., like say in Latin America?

4) Any experiences or recommendations, both good and bad, with Solbourne
   Sun clone systems?

Please responses directly by E-mail since I do not have easy access to the
net, I will summarize the responses and post them.

Thanks for your help.
