passwd.adjunct with NIS

Has anyone out there ever got password adjunct files to work with yellow
pages?

We have a password.adjunct in /etc/security, just for root and such, and
another one in /var/yp/masters/security for all users (via yellow pages).
We got things working so that users can login OK, including users with
passwords still in the password file, and users with passwords in the
adjunct files.

The problem is that users whose passwords are in the /etc/security adjunct
file (such as root) can change their passwords OK, but everyone else,
whose passwords are in in the yellow pages password or adjunct files,
can't change their passwords -- they get messages like "passwd: alecd:
unknown user" or "no entry in the adjunct file" (depending on the many
ways we've tried configuring the system).

Thanks in advance
