Looking for alternatives to AIX for an RT

Yes, IBM themselves at Palo Alto did this port some years back. I believe
it is called AOS (no, don't ask me what the acronym stands for). The problem
is that for reasons I am unclear on they only make it available to educa-
tional institutions. Too bad too since on some of my university support trips
I was amazed at how reasonable a workstation the RT can be with enough memory,
a 19" monitor, X11, and AOS. Oh well, perhaps if you have some University
contacts you can work something out? Oh yes, I also don't believe there is
any formal support for it either, but I am not sure about that.
