Serial Port Specification!

I'm trying to use sz/rz through my serial port from amiga unix..
I can't seem to get them to recognize that the i/o device should
be /dev/term/ser.  How do I get them to use this device?  Or, more
generally, how do I initialize /dev/term/ser for I/O?

ps.  I know it's /dev/term/ser because I've used it with C-Kermit...
