First of all, b&w X is only temporary with Amix. Right now the
engineers at C= are working on (and RSN will be shipping) a version of
color X supporting all of the Amiga resolutions/colors that use the
specialized Amiga graphics chips. Rumor has it that the color
implimentation is about 4x faster than the current b&w. Also, if you
want 1024x1024x8 colors, the 2410 will support that at a probable cost
of any TIGA cards for other platforms (like ISA, if not cheaper). The
current version of X has support for TIGA routines built in, so buy a
TIGA card and away you go. You would have to buy a TIGA board for a
ISA machine to get respectible X performance out of it anyway.

As far as faster processor speeds, many vendors have anounced 25 MHz
'040 cards for the 3000 that all run at or under $1000. Try and get a
comprible upgrade for any of the machines you named for an equivelent
price.

I would deny this reality, but that wouldn't pay the bills...
