Yes, it can.  Use the General... choice on the Preferences menu and change
the '(0,0,0)/' for root directory to, for example, '(3,0,0)/' to launch from
SCSI drive #3.  To make the change of setting effective, you then need to
leave A/UX Startup and relaunch it, but after that it will always boot A/UX
from drive #3.
