Sun SCSI HD connected to Mac [help]

Has anyone ever successfully hooked a Sun SCSI
hard disk/tape drive unit to a Macintosh?  A friend 
is the receipient of a long-term loan of these
units.  He would like to hook it into a Macintosh's
SCSI bus. He does not intend to use the UNIX formatting
so he will be reformatting the disk for ...HFS...

He seems to have gotten over the hump of getting the 
cabling right, but SCSi Tools tells him that he's
not properly terminated.  So he's dead in the water!
