What is NPROC and MAXUP?

Sorry for the confusion. This piece of advice (offered in the README file in /usr/lib/X11) refers to an earlier edition of the X manual suite. NPROC and MAXUP are kernel tuning parameters, see the manual page for "kconfig (1)". The advice was intended for A/UX 1.x releases; if you're running with A/UX 2.0, NPROC and MAXUP are "factory" set at 100 and 50 respectively, these have proven adequate for all my development work.
