why separate filesystems?

In addition to the other reasons mentioned, I like to have a separate fs
for /usr/spool/news. It means that I don't need to worry about tweeking
explist according to the current political climate when I leave the
office for a few days. I may lose a few news articles, but at least the
other users can continue without running out of disk.
