Syscall stats

I am interested in any references on the following topics:

	1) Average procedure call depths and number of registers saved
	during execution of the "standard" applications.

	2) Any work done on determining the static and dynamic mix of
	UNIX system calls in application code.

I have seen the first topic discussed much in connection with RISC
(possibly by Hennesy), but have not been able to dig up the numbers
again.  Thanks.
