UNIX<->PC RPC info wanted

I am looking for an RPC protocol between UNIX and the PC.  Something
like NCS/RPC or NFS/RPC.  I am interested in what's out there, and
what is likely to be among the most prolific and long lasting.

Any information at all would be great! Thanks.
