question about compiling

You could make a symbolic link in /tmp to your directory.
eg. ln -s ~/myrunfile /tmp/myrunfile

That way, when you overwrite /tmp/myrunfile you are really
overwritting ~/myrunfile.

A cleaner solution would to get a large account size :).
