AT&T 6386E WGS: how to get rid of "System name: xxx" before login

On my AT&T 6386E WGS running S5R3.2.2, before every login: prompt
it shows /etc/issue as well as the "System name: xxxx" line. I got
rid of /etc/issue and that doesn't show up any more, but it appears
that the "System name:" deal is compiled into /etc/getty.

I suppose this means I need to either (a) live with it, or (b) get
a new getty... right?

Mail would be good on this one ;->, thanks,
Eric
