gcc 1.39 has -posix.  With earlier versions, you can do

gcc -nostdlib /lib/crtp1.o ... -lcposix -lc

(Yes, I got this wrong twice.  Sigh.  pcrt1.o is for profiling.  But crtp1.o is
right for posix.  I promise.)
