14 character limitation in filenames

The limitation is 14 characters.  Not 11 + 3 (in fact if you want an 
extension it is 11+2 because the period counts as one of the precious
14 characters).

This is standard System V Rx where X < 4.0.

With System V R4.0 you get 255 byte file names on UFS file systems.

Interactive has announced that SVR4 will be shipping (as a developers
release) in April.  Dell, UHC and Microport have SVR4 shipping today.
