PRODUCT: Ultrix V4.2

SOURCE: Customer Support Center/Atlanta USA

INFORMATION:

Problems have been found with some of the early releases of the
Ultrix V4.2 distribution kits. We are currently aware of the
following problems:

1) On RISC CDROMs, the CDROM may not be bootable. There have been some
CDROMs that are mountable and readable, but not bootable. If an
error is encountered, verify that the boot command is correct and if
you still have problems, you may have a CDROM that is not bootable.
It is possible that some boot problems may occur because the CDROM
    reader itself is broken.

If you believe your boot problems are the result of a bad CDROM,
then notify your local sales representative that you need another
copy. You may call the Customer Support Center for help at
    1-800-332-8000 for additional information.

2) On some RISC TK50 tapes, the subsets included on the mandatory update
are VAX subsets. An error message will occur stating that the
subsets cannot be installed because the system is expecting other
subsets to already be installed (e.g. ULTBASE420).

Before actually installing the upgrade to V4.2, load the mandatory
upgrade tape into the drive on an existing system (V4.1) and use the
    commands below as superuser:

         mkdir /usr/test
         /etc/setld -D /usr/test -l /dev/rmt0h

After getting the menu, abort it by typing <control>c ( ^C ).
Do not proceed further. Do not select any option from the menu.

Enter the command "setld -D /usr/test -i". If this shows any
subset names with ULT at the beginning of the name, instead of UDT,
    do not upgrade!

After checking the validity of the MUP tape, you may delete the
    /usr/test directory.

Please contact your local sales representative for a correct copy
of the Mandatory Update, or call the Customer Support Center at
    1-800-332-8000 for additional help.
