getting SZ to work with an Ultrix system

Im doing file transfers from our vax to my home computer, i would like to use
the Zmodem protocol, but our system only has xmodem and kermit.  I have the   
SZ source, and it compiles, but it doesnt seem to work right.  Can someone
possibly give me some pointers to get this to work on our vax running ultrix?
or send me a source set up to compile with ultrix.  Please forgive my
ignorance of unix.. im fairly new to the system.
