                 * The SCO Ported Software Compendium *
Date Last Updated: December 23, 1990

The below list is a non-inclusive compendium of software which has been
ported to the XENIX operating system. All files can be downloaded from
anomaly. Anonymous FTP is currently not available, but we are working on
it. This list is published monthly on the 15th of the month (or whenever
significant modifications are made within it to warrent re-publication)
in the COMP.UNIX.XENIX.SCO newsgroup.

Updates to this list should be mailed to:	mpd at anomaly.sbs.com
or, for those of you who like bang-paths: ...!uunet!anomaly.sbs.com!mpd

Filenames: This List: anomaly!~/SOFTLIST
	    Miscellaneous Notes: anomaly!~/NOTES
	    Complete Listing: anomaly!~/ls-lR

			Anonymous UUCP Information:

Telebit Trailblazer Plus Dial-In: +1 401 455 0347
	   anomaly.sbs.com!login: xxcp
 	                Password: xenix

To download a file, issue the following uucp request on your machine:

	uucp anomaly!~/archives/<filename> yoursite!<to-filename>

All files are stored in /usr/spool/uucppublic/archives on anomaly.

If you have a file to donate to the XENIX archives, then kindly upload
it as follows:

	uucp yoursite!<filename> anomaly!~/incoming/<filename>

This will store the file in anomaly's incoming directory for posting to
the archives. Please include a mail message to "mpd" indicating what the
file is, etc.

If you are unable to upload a file to us, but have some that you wish to
contribute, we will be happy to either Anonymous FTP or UUCP them. Just
leave a message to "mpd" with the pertinent information.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

	              Zmodem/Ymodem/Xmodem/Kermit/Sealink:

All files can be accessed from anomaly's "bbs" login, for those users without
UUCP or FTP access. Validation is required to access the file sections,
though, so on your first call leave a note in FEEDBACK stating that you're
calling to download from the archives, and we'll see that you get an
special access account.

The main number for anomaly is: 1 401 455 0347. All lines are PEP. For users
with telnet/rlogin capabilities, see FTP information, below.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Special Note: The archives on Anomaly are in source code format, with
              exception of the GCC/G++ compilers.

==============================================================================

			Anonymous FTP Information

We are currently working on establishing an FTP connection. Anomaly will be
(hopefully) connected to the Alternet via a 56kbps leased line. Once this
line is active (1st quarter '91) then all sources will be FTPable. Keep the
following information handy, and watch COMP.UNIX.XENIX.SCO for an FTP
availability announcement.

Our tenative IP address is: 192.76.250.2
                  login id: ftp
                  password: ftp

Users experiencing problems FTPing can telnet/rlogin as 'bbs' and leave a
message to the System Administrator for additional help.

SAFE allows you to limit execution of a program to a certain number of
seconds (ie: "safe -d60 l -R" would run the "l -R" command for a maximum of
sixty seconds and then terminate it, if it doesn't complete on its own.) This
is a great utility for XENIX BBS operators who wish to limit execution time
in external programs.

STARCGI
Copyright 1990 Ronald Florence

The starchart CGI driver, for use with SCO Xenix and Unix, provides most of
the features and the resolution of the starpost driver. To use the CGI driver,
you must have the CGIPATH and CGIDISP and/or CGIPRNT environmental variables
declared. You may need the FONTS, RESOLUTION, and VERIFYFONT environmental
variables for your CGI devices.

Thanks to Ron Florence (..!uunet!hsi!mlfarm!ron) for the donation.

-r--r--r-- 1 xxcp uucp 22094 Jul 13 21:37 tek.shar

This package creates yet another tek4014 emulator. On a Xenix system with the
CGI package, the Makefile will create tek and poly (actually a link). Tek
reads tek4014 input and outputs it to any CGI device. Poly reads ascii
integer or floating point xy points. Using the SCO CGI devices, we have
successfully used tek and poly with a VGA, EGA, and CG display, HP 7470a
plotter, Laserjet, Deskjet, Epson printers, and a Postscript printer. To use
the CGI drivers, make sure you have the CGIPATH and CGIDISP or CGIPRNT
environmental variables declared. Tek and poly also recognize and work
correctly with a Wyse wy99gt terminal.

Thanks to Ron Florence (..!uunet!hsi!mlfarm!ron) for the donation.

point-and-press technique to selecting newsgroups and messages to read. This
newsreader is very primitive and lacks many of the advanced features one
finds in a package such as RN, however, offers yet-another-interface for
news readers.
