Can gcc on Xenix 386 2.3.2 generate driver code?

Can gcc and gas be used to create driver objects destined to be linked
with the rest of the kernel objects to build a new kernel?  That is,
are the object file (.o file) formats campatable?  Are there any
special instructions to be followed?  Ron.
