KSHELL questions--HELP!

Can anyone out there tell me what the story is on passing positional
variables to a kshell alias?  I've had only intermittent success with
this--what works in one alias doesn't work in identical coding in
another alias.  WHY???!!!

I'll be glad to share what little knowledge of kshell with anyone who
asks--it's not a lot, but it may be enough to help prevent
re-inventing the wheel.
