Has anybody got gcc 1.36 compiled?

I just downloaded gcc-1.36 from uunet and tried following the instructions
to try and get it to compile. Well the term SOL come right to mind.

Anybody out there got any suggestions? I could elaborate here on the details
but I thought I'd ask first if I'm missing something blindly simple.
