newsgroup problems

It's encouraging to see so many postings to the newsgroup of late.
Unfortunately, I may not have seen all recent submissions. Longway
had a bit of a disk problem most of last week and through the weekend.
Something about the earthquake, the power outage, the three days and
two thousand miles in the trunk of a car, or maybe being plugged into
the same circuit as the washer and dryer, didn't agree with its disk.

Anyway, if you submitted something and haven't seen it posted, it's
probably because it didn't reach me. Please send it again, preferably
to std-unix at uunet.uu.net, which is an alias that both saves a copy on
UUNET and redistributes to me.

Those of you on the mailing list have, I hope, seen more reliable
service lately. I gave up on getting UUNET to reliably forward from
the newsgroup to the mailing list and gave the job to my utility room
computer. Works fine now (I think). If you've noticed any missing
messages (that's what the Volume-Number line at the bottom is for),
do let me know.

Please send any comments on the newsgroup or mailing list to
	std-unix-request at uunet.uu.net
and submissions to
	std-unix at uunet.uu.net
