7300 1-Mb-to-2Mb RAM upgrade

I bought a UNIXpc 7300 originally equipped with
1 Mb of RAM on the motherboard (m-board).
After my warranty expired, I added
another 1-Mb of RAM for a total of 2-Mb on the m-board. This
modification required adding other components besides the 36 DRAM chips
themselves. Without going into detail, basically what I did was add
the components which are on a 3B1 m-board with 2-Mb RAM, but not on mine.
The problem is: my system still thinks it only has 1-Mb RAM. It
doesn't recognize the 2nd Mb of RAM. I am aware of the E2-E3 jumper
that had to be cut and changed to E1-E2 on the 512 kb-to-2 Mb
modification. My machine already had the E1-E2 jumper from the
factory. I suspect some obscure modification was made on the 1-Mb
version which told the system to ignore the previously empty memory
positions on the m-board.
Anyway, everything still works, but as if I hadn't done a thing to the
memory.

Besides this posting, I am also trying to get help from
the AT&T Information Systems' people. If and when I get this
modification working, I will post a summary of what's involved.
But, if anyone has already posted this modification before, please let
me know (and forward a copy, if you have it).

ps.
If you have seen this message before, forgive me.
I am reposting it because my link went down and I am not
sure if it got out.
