WD2010 $15.95 @ Solid State Sales

	I called Solid State today, their price is now $15.95, but would
	be only a minimal volume discount available (they said).
	I forgot to ask them which revison of the WD2010 they had, if you
	need to know, you can call them at (617) 547-7053.

No problem if someone wants copies of the WD2010 installation instructions
from last year!  I still have the "master" copy from which additional photo-
copies can be easily made.

However, I'd like to caution everyone there's STILL some anomaly(ies) re:
the WD2010 and the UNIXPC that have not yet been resolved.  For example:

	any WD2010A or WD2010B works fine in ALL my systems (3B1 and 7300,
	manufacture date codes including 8634, 8509, 8507) with ANY of more
	than 30 *different* HDs I have tried to date.

	a colleague has been unable to get a WD2010 functioning in either of
	his systems (Rev. B) with a Miniscribe 3085, though the WD2010 does
	work with "smaller" drives.  We even swapped the
	top-level-HD-floppy-power-supply plate from one of my 7300 with his,
	and my HD would NOT work on his system though it works fine in mine
	(and that's the plate with my power supply adjusted to the higher
	levels I prefer).

	about ten people from the WD2010 group buy I organized last year are
	still unable to get the WD2010B chips functioning in their systems;
	this is out of 180 chips total.  Several have sent their chips back
	for me to test, and they worked fine in my system.

Please understand my dilemma: the several returned chips I tested were good,
but they don't work in the purchasers' systems.  I'm not a dealer and have no
way to recompense the people or "eat" the loss if I refund the money unless
someone else wants to buy those returned chips.  After all real expenses were
tallied, there was about $35 to cover all the time I spent arranging the group
buy; I don't regret having "done" the deal because it was educational and fun,
and I enjoy helping others.  But, still, I have a very REAL interest in coming
up with a solution, ideally one that will permit the purchasers the use of the
WD2010 chips in their systems.

If anyone has any ideas or can suggest WHAT to look for on a 'scope or other
test equipment while attempting to get a WD2010 to function on a system that
doesn't like it, please add to this discussion!  I'm in "Silicon Valley" and a
system with the problem is readily available from Chad Netzer.
